Description
The C202CE4 is a quartz (fused silica) standard cuvette with 20 mm path length and two-way light optical windows, designed for UV-Vis and NIR spectrophotometry across 190–2500 nm. The two-way light configuration transmits the beam through two opposing polished optical faces while the two frosted sides minimize stray light interference and internal reflections, delivering clean baseline performance for absorbance measurements. Fabricated using Molded 83 — an integrally fused one-piece construction with no adhesive or joints — this cuvette achieves >83% transmittance and a path length tolerance of ±0.02 mm. Molded 83 fabrication withstands temperatures up to 1200 °C and resists all common laboratory solvents, acids, and bases. Includes a ptfe cap for chemical-resistant sealing. Supplied as a pack of two for cost-effective parallel or comparative experiments.

Why This Cuvette?
The two-way light configuration (two polished optical faces, two frosted sides) provides clean absorbance measurements with minimal stray light. The frosted faces reduce internal reflections and scattering, improving baseline stability and signal-to-noise ratio — particularly important for low-absorbance measurements near the detection limit. The 20 mm path length increases measurement sensitivity by 2× compared to a standard 10 mm cuvette (Beer-Lambert law: A = εlc), significantly improving detection limits for dilute analytes and trace-level concentrations.
Usage Tips: Handle the cuvette by its frosted (non-optical) sides to avoid fingerprints on the polished windows. Fill to at least 15 mm above the beam center height to avoid meniscus effects in the light path. Clean with spectroscopic-grade solvent and lint-free tissue after each use. For aqueous samples, rinse with deionized water first, then solvent. Avoid prolonged ultrasonic cleaning which can stress the optical bonds over time. Store upright in the original case when not in use. Compatible with Shimadzu, Agilent, PerkinElmer, Thermo Fisher, JASCO, and most commercial UV-Vis spectrophotometers with standard 12.5 mm cuvette holders.
