Description
The C052CR2 is an IR quartz (JGS3 fused silica) standard cuvette with 5 mm path length and two-way light optical windows, designed for Vis-NIR and mid-IR spectrophotometry across a broad 260–3500 nm wavelength range. The two-way light configuration transmits the beam through two opposing polished optical faces while the frosted sides minimize stray light interference, delivering clean baseline performance for absorbance measurements in the near- and mid-infrared regions. Fabricated using Sintered 83 — a high-temperature sintering process at 600 °C that fuses quartz components without adhesive — this cuvette achieves >83% transmittance and excellent chemical resistance to acids, bases, and organic solvents. The 1.75 ml volume accommodates standard sample volumes, and the PTFE cap provides an inert, chemical-resistant seal. Supplied as a pack of two for cost-effective parallel or comparative experiments.

Applications
Why This Cuvette?
The 5 mm path length reduces absorbance by 2× compared to a standard 10 mm cuvette (Beer-Lambert law: A = εlc), making it well-suited for moderately concentrated samples that would saturate a longer-path cell in the IR region. IR quartz (JGS3) extends the useful wavelength range to 3500 nm — far beyond standard quartz (JGS1, which cuts off at ~2500 nm) — enabling measurements of fundamental molecular vibrations and overtone bands that are invisible in the UV-Vis range. The Sintered 83 fabrication provides a jointless, high-transmittance optical path that withstands repeated thermal cycling and aggressive cleaning protocols without degradation.
