Sapphire Sheets

MachinedQuartz sapphire windows and sheets are grown from single-crystal aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), offering outstanding hardness (Mohs 9), broad UV-to-IR transmission (0.15–5.5µm), and resistance to thermal shock, abrasion, and most chemicals.

Optical Transmission
Sapphire transmits from 150nm in the deep UV through 5.5µm in the mid-infrared, making it one of the most versatile optical window materials available. It is the material of choice for high-pressure viewports, harsh-environment sensors, and broadband IR spectroscopy systems.

Crystal Orientations
Available in C-plane (0001), A-plane (11-20), and R-plane (1-102) orientations. C-plane is standard for most optical applications; A-plane is preferred for nitride epitaxy; R-plane for specific polarization applications. Custom orientations available on request.

Standard and Custom Sizes
Standard diameters from φ5mm to φ100mm, rectangular sizes from 5×5mm to 50×50mm, thickness from 0.3mm to 10mm. Double-side polished as standard. Custom shapes, coatings (AR, HR, BBAR), and bevels available with no minimum order quantity.

Applications
High-pressure cell windows, flame and plasma sensors, laser gain media substrates, semiconductor LED epitaxy substrates, missile dome windows, watch glass and scratch-resistant covers, medical imaging components.
