Description

The C301WS1 is a quartz cylindrical cuvette designed for measuring reflected light, with a φ30mm outer diameter and 30mm height. The open-top cylindrical geometry is optimized for diffuse-reflectance and integrating-sphere measurements where the sample is placed inside the cup and illuminated from above. The internal chamber (φ26mm × 28mm) accommodates powders, pastes, gels, thin films, and solid samples. Fabricated using Sintered 83 (>83% transmittance) — high-temperature sintered quartz construction for superior chemical resistance and thermal stability.

Why Cylindrical Geometry?

The cylindrical open-top design provides a uniform sample surface for reflectance measurements, eliminating optical artifacts caused by corners or edges in rectangular cells. The circular cross-section ensures even illumination distribution when used with integrating spheres, and the smooth interior wall allows easy loading and complete recovery of powder and paste samples.

Why Sintered 83?

Sintered 83 uses high-temperature fusion to bond quartz components without adhesive, delivering >83% transmittance and exceptional chemical and thermal resistance. The sintered joints withstand aggressive solvents, concentrated acids, and temperatures up to 1100°C — ideal for reflectance measurements involving reactive or high-temperature samples. No organic adhesive means zero risk of fluorescence background or adhesive degradation.

Usage Tips

  • Fill the cuvette with a flat, uniform layer of sample for consistent reflectance readings.
  • Use a white reference standard (e.g., BaSO₄ or PTFE) for baseline calibration before measurements.
  • Clean with a compatible solvent and dry thoroughly between samples to avoid cross-contamination.
  • For powder samples, gently press the surface flat with a spatula to reduce scattering variability.
  • Store in the original protective packaging to prevent scratches on the polished quartz surface.
