Description

The C155CS is a premium quartz fluorescence cuvette with 15 mm path length and five-way light optical configuration — all four vertical faces plus the bottom window are polished to optical grade, enabling excitation and emission collection from virtually any angle. With a standard 8.6 ml internal volume (15 × 15 × 48 mm chamber), the cell is compatible with most commercial fluorimeters and UV-Vis spectrophotometers. Fabricated using Standard 80 (>80% transmittance) — assembled with optical-grade adhesive for reliable performance with aqueous samples.

Why Five-Way Light?

The five-way configuration polishes all four vertical faces plus the bottom to optical grade, providing maximum geometric flexibility for excitation and emission collection. This enables front-face fluorescence on opaque or highly concentrated samples, polarization anisotropy measurements requiring precise alignment, and bottom-read configurations used in plate-reader-adapted instruments. If your experiment only requires standard 90° fluorescence geometry, a four-way cuvette is sufficient; choose five-way when you need bottom optical access or plan to rotate the cuvette for multi-angle studies.

Why Standard 80 Construction?

Standard 80 cuvettes are assembled using optical-grade adhesive to bond precision quartz panels, achieving transmittance >80% at 200–2500 nm. This fabrication method delivers reliable optical performance at an accessible price point — ideal for routine fluorescence measurements with aqueous samples. Standard 80 cuvettes are intended for use with aqueous (water-based) solutions only; organic solvents, strong acids, or strong bases may attack the adhesive joints. For solvent-resistant applications, consider Sintered 83 or Molded 83 alternatives.

Usage Tips: Handle by non-optical surfaces only — fingerprints on polished faces cause scattering artifacts that raise fluorescence background. Rinse immediately after use. Standard 80 construction is suitable for aqueous (water-based) solutions only. Do not use with organic solvents, strong acids, or strong bases, as these may attack the adhesive joints. For fluorescence work, ensure the excitation beam enters through a polished window and the detector views at 90° through an adjacent polished face. Compatible with Shimadzu, Agilent, PerkinElmer, Thermo Fisher, JASCO, Hitachi, Horiba, Edinburgh Instruments, and most commercial fluorimeters.
