Using this cell

Fill the cell from the open top and align the two transmission faces with the instrument beam. Before measurement, check that the liquid level covers the beam area you use and that the optical faces are free from fingerprints, residue and trapped bubbles.

The 35 mL figure is a nominal cell volume, not a minimum working volume. If your method depends on a controlled headspace, a low fill level or a specific beam position within the chamber, verify those points in your own arrangement before routine use.
