Description

C103WS is a quartz flow cell for UV/Vis spectroscopy with a 10 mm optical path and 32 µL nominal capacity. This option combines a compact 12.5 × 12.5 mm base, a 15 mm Z Height and two top-mounted fluid connections, which makes it easier to plan optical alignment and tubing access together in a small flow-cell position.

The optical layout is Three-Way Light, and both fluid connections are on the top face rather than on the sides. The body height is 35 mm, so the cell itself is compact at the base but still needs vertical clearance above the holder for the fittings and connected tubing.

Choose this option when your method uses a 10 mm flow path but the mechanical fit matters just as much as the optical path. The combination of top access, 15 mm beam-centre height and a small square base is useful when the holder space is tight around the sides and the tubing needs to leave from above the cell.

Using this cell

Connect the liquid lines to the two top ports and fill the cell slowly so the optical region wets evenly. Before measurement, inspect the illuminated zone for bubbles, trapped residue or incomplete filling, and keep the cell orientation consistent between blank and sample runs.

The nominal volume is 32 µL for the cell itself. In use, the total liquid needed will depend on the rest of your tubing and connected components, so low-volume circuit planning should consider the complete liquid path rather than the cell body alone.

No pressure limit is specified for this SKU. If your setup uses pumps or pressurized flow, review the complete assembled liquid path before operation.

First-use check

Check the cell body and optical faces for chips, residue or shipping damage.
Confirm that the holder seats the cell securely and that the beam matches the 15 mm Z Height.
After connecting tubing, fill slowly and inspect the light path for bubbles before recording a blank.

Fit and optical alignment

The verified base dimensions are 12.5 × 12.5 mm, and the body height is 35 mm. The stated Z Height is 15 mm, which is the key dimension to compare with your instrument beam position and holder seating.

Both ports are on the top face, shown as left and right connections in the product layout. Leave enough room above the holder for the stainless steel fittings and tubing. External fit to a specific instrument should not be assumed from the base size alone.

Solvents and cleaning

Standard 80 is the MQ option for adhesive-bonded quartz cells used with routine water-based samples and buffers at room temperature. Avoid organic sample solvents and organic cleaning agents with this construction.

Do not use hydrofluoric acid on quartz. Avoid hot strong alkalis and abrasive cleaning. Wipe the exterior optical faces gently with non-abrasive optical tissue, and check all wetted parts in your assembled setup, including the stainless steel fittings. If your method uses organic solvents, compare a suitable Sintered or Molded option instead.
