Handling and Care

• Keep heating and cooling rates controlled: below 1200 °C, use less than 5 °C per minute; above 1200 °C, use less than 4 °C per minute.
• Maintain a distance greater than 5 cm between the crucible and heating elements such as carbon tubes, silicon-molybdenum rods or heating wires.
• Before first use, dry the crucible in an oven at about 105 °C for 120 minutes to remove moisture.
• Do not apply direct flame from a gasoline torch, acetylene torch or alcohol blowtorch.
