Handling and Care

• Control heating and cooling rates: below 1200 °C use < 5 °C/min; above 1200 °C use < 4 °C/min. Large crucibles require particular care.
• Keep the crucible more than 5 cm away from heating elements such as carbon tubes, silicon-molybdenum rods or heating wire.
• Before first use, dry the crucible in an oven at approximately 105 °C for 120 minutes to remove moisture.
• Do not heat directly with a gasoline torch, acetylene torch or alcohol blowtorch.
