Handling and Care
- Before first use, bake in an oven at approximately 105 °C for 120 minutes to remove moisture.
- Do not heat with an open flame, or with a gasoline, acetylene or alcohol torch.
- Below 1200 °C, keep the heating rate under 5 °C/min.
- Above 1200 °C, keep the cooling rate under 4 °C/min; avoid rapid heating or cooling.
- Keep the crucible more than 5 cm from the heating element.
- For larger crucibles, avoid direct contact with the furnace floor; support on alumina feet or similar heat-resistant spacers to aid air circulation.
