C0.54CS is a JGS1 quartz screw-top cuvette for UV/Vis measurements that use a short 0.5 mm optical path. It combines Four-Way Light optical access with a threaded neck and included PTFE closure, so you can load the sample from the top and keep the cell covered during handling or measurement. With a 175 µL nominal capacity, this option suits small prepared liquid samples in a compact quartz body.

Choose C0.54CS when your method is built around a 0.5 mm path and you want a covered screw-top cell rather than an open-top format. The Four-Way Light layout is useful where side access around the cell body matters, and the threaded neck gives a direct filling route without changing the basic cuvette form. This is a good fit for short-path UV/Vis work where sample handling and holder clearance both need attention.

Using this cell

Fill the cell through the threaded opening, then fit the PTFE closure if your procedure uses a covered sample. Keep the optical faces free from fingerprints, droplets and residue, and use the same orientation for blank and sample measurements.

The 175 µL figure is the nominal cell capacity, not a minimum working volume. Fill level should be checked in the intended instrument so that the liquid covers the actual beam position in use.

First-use check

Inspect the quartz faces and threaded opening for dust, chips or handling marks.
Rinse with a suitable liquid for your method and full assembly.
Run a blank first and confirm that the sample level covers the beam area without bubbles.
Fit the closure gently and make sure it seats correctly before measurement.

Fit and optical alignment

The body section is 12.5 × 3 mm and 38 mm high. Overall height is 54 mm without the closure and 58 mm with the closure fitted, which helps when checking top clearance inside compact holders or sample compartments.

Z Height is not established for this SKU, so beam-center compatibility should not be assumed from path length or overall height alone. If your holder has a fixed beam position or limited clearance around the neck, check that geometry before ordering.

Solvents and cleaning

This cuvette uses Molded 83 fabrication in JGS1 quartz. This fabrication is commonly chosen for quartz cells used with organic-solvent methods and other laboratory liquid samples, but chemical suitability still depends on the exact liquid, concentration, temperature, contact time and the full wetted assembly, including the closure.

Do not use hydrofluoric acid with quartz. Avoid hot strong alkalis and abrasive cleaning materials, and clean the optical faces gently with non-abrasive optical tissue or another non-scratching laboratory wipe.
