Quartz 1mm Stoppered Fluorescence Cuvette, 430 µl, Molded 83, Four-Way Light, PTFE Stopper, Pack of Two, C014SS1
Description
The C014SS1 is a quartz stoppered fluorescence cuvette with 1 mm path length and four-way light optical configuration — all four vertical faces are polished to optical grade, providing the standard 90° fluorescence geometry plus additional optical access. With a micro 430 µl internal volume (1 × 10 × 43 mm chamber), the cell is compatible with most commercial spectrophotometers and fluorimeters. Fabricated using Molded 83 (>83% transmittance) — precision-molded from a single piece of quartz for reliable performance with a wide range of laboratory solvents. The PTFE stopper seals the cuvette opening, preventing evaporation of volatile samples and protecting air-sensitive or hygroscopic solutions during measurement.

Fluorescence & Spectroscopy Applications
Why Four-Way Light?
The four-way configuration polishes all four vertical faces to optical grade — the standard geometry for fluorescence spectroscopy. The excitation beam enters through one face and emission is collected at 90° through an adjacent face, minimizing excitation light contamination in the emission signal. The additional two polished faces allow the cuvette to be rotated for alternative measurement geometries or simultaneous absorbance monitoring during fluorescence experiments.
PTFE Stopper
The PTFE stopper creates an airtight seal over the cuvette opening, preventing solvent evaporation during extended measurements and protecting air-sensitive or hygroscopic samples from atmospheric exposure. PTFE is chemically inert to virtually all laboratory solvents and contributes no background absorbance or fluorescence, ensuring clean spectra. The stopper fits snugly by friction and can be removed and replaced one-handed for rapid sample exchange. Ideal for volatile solvents, long kinetic runs, and any application where maintaining sample concentration and composition is critical.
Why Molded 83 Construction?
Molded 83 cuvettes are assembled using optical-grade adhesive to bond precision quartz panels, achieving transmittance >83% at 200–2500 nm. This fabrication method delivers reliable optical performance at an accessible price point — ideal for routine measurements with a wide range of solvents. Molded 83 cuvettes withstand all common laboratory solvents, concentrated acids, and bases. Avoid HF (hydrofluoric acid). The one-piece molded construction eliminates adhesive joints, providing superior chemical resistance compared to adhesive-bonded cuvettes.
