Using this cell

Fill the cell from the top and keep the liquid level high enough to cover the measurement region in the orientation you plan to use. If your method uses both path directions, identify them clearly in your routine so the 8 mm path and the 28 mm path are not mixed during blank and sample runs.

Because this is an open-top cell, it is suited to direct loading from above rather than sealed or pressurised use. The 8 mL figure is the nominal capacity, not a minimum working volume.
