C164CC is a glass rectangular sample cell for visible absorbance measurements at 350–800 nm. It combines 16 mm and 49 mm optical paths in one open-top body, so you can plan around two stated measurement directions without changing to a different cell. Using this cell

Fill the cell from the top and keep the liquid level high enough to cover the beam in the orientation you intend to use. If your procedure uses both optical directions, keep the blank and sample runs in the same orientation each time so the 16 mm path and the 49 mm path are not mixed during handling.

Handle the cell by non-optical surfaces where possible and clear visible bubbles before measurement. The 43 mL figure is the nominal cell capacity, not a stated minimum working volume.

First-use check

Before first use, inspect the optical faces for residue, edge damage or handling marks. Rinse with a liquid suitable for your method, place the empty cell in the holder to confirm physical clearance, and run a blank in the same orientation you plan to use for samples.

Fit and optical alignment

The listed 18 × 51 × 57 mm dimensions apply to the cell body only. Check holder opening, side clearance and insertion space before ordering, especially if your instrument is designed around a narrower rectangular format.

Solvents and cleaning

This adhesive-bonded glass cell is listed as Standard 80. This construction is commonly chosen for routine room-temperature aqueous samples and buffer-based work. If your process involves organic solvents, stronger reagents, heated cleaning or long contact time, check suitability for the full assembly before use.

Do not use hydrofluoric acid with glass. Avoid hot strong alkalis and abrasive cleaning methods, and clean the optical faces gently with non-abrasive optical tissue or another suitable soft material.
