50 mL Quartz Evaporating Dish: Open-Surface Preparation and Transfer
CUSTOM DESIGN GUIDE · MQM361
MQM361 is a nominal 50 mL quartz evaporating dish with a shallow, open body and small pouring lip. It is a reference for sample-preparation steps that need access across the surface rather than through a neck. The working fill, support and transfer route give that open form its practical meaning.

An open surface changes the preparation routine
A necked vessel concentrates access at one opening. A shallow dish exposes the sample from above, which is useful to discuss for an evaporation or other open-surface preparation step. The method can approach the surface directly without a long route through a neck.
That geometry does not set an evaporation rate. The sample, exposed area, operating conditions and equipment determine the process. The nominal 50 mL designation identifies the vessel option rather than a universal working fill for every preparation.
MQM361 configuration
The pouring lip gives transfer a direction
The small lip is a distinct feature of the rim. For a proposed transfer, it places the receiving vessel and the handling approach on a particular side of the dish. A support or surrounding enclosure should leave that route open.
The curved lower body also needs an appropriate place to rest. A broad heating surface, shaped support or rack can contact different regions. The useful design describes the actual contact rather than assuming that capacity determines the base geometry.
Choose the dish together with the equipment around it
A sample may be loaded before the dish is placed in its support or handled while the dish remains in position. Those routines require different access for tools and removal. The method should make clear which operation the support needs to allow.
Where heating is involved, the sample chemistry and thermal cycle belong to the vessel-and-equipment specification. Quartz material alone does not supply an assembly-specific temperature or thermal-shock rating. The design can still be discussed clearly in terms of opening, support, working amount and transfer.
A custom example: match an existing preparation support
ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN EXAMPLE
Suppose the preparation station has a fixed support, but the desired dish needs a different opening or pouring approach. A proposed version can define the contact against that support and place the rim and lip around the handling route. The retained working capacity remains separate from the outside contact dimensions.
