Description

The C0.52CE is a quartz (fused silica) standard cuvette with 0.5 mm path length and two-way light optical windows, designed for UV-Vis and NIR spectrophotometry across 190–2500 nm. The two-way configuration transmits the beam through two opposing polished faces while the frosted sides minimize stray light and internal reflections. Fabricated using Molded 83 — an integrally fused one-piece construction with no adhesive or joints — this cuvette achieves >83% transmittance and a path length tolerance of ±0.02 mm. Molded 83 fabrication withstands temperatures up to 1200 °C and resists all common laboratory solvents, acids, and bases. Includes a PTFE cap for chemical-resistant sealing. Supplied as a pack of two for cost-effective parallel or comparative experiments.

Why This Cuvette?

The two-way light configuration (two polished, two frosted) provides clean absorbance with minimal stray light. The frosted faces reduce internal reflections, improving baseline stability — particularly important for low-absorbance measurements. The 0.5 mm path reduces absorbance by 20× compared to 10 mm (Beer-Lambert: A = εlc), ideal for concentrated samples.

Usage Tips: Handle by the frosted (non-optical) sides to avoid fingerprints. Fill to at least 15 mm above beam center. Clean with spectroscopic-grade solvent and lint-free tissue. For aqueous samples, rinse with DI water first. Avoid prolonged ultrasonic cleaning. Store upright in original case. Compatible with Shimadzu, Agilent, PerkinElmer, Thermo Fisher, JASCO, and most UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
