Description

The C104SE10 is a precision quartz micro fluorescence cuvette with 10 mm path length and four-way light optical windows (all four faces optically polished), designed for fluorescence and UV-Vis spectroscopy (190–2500 nm). The four-way configuration enables simultaneous excitation and emission measurements at 90° — the standard geometry for fluorescence spectroscopy — while maintaining full UV-Vis absorbance capability through any pair of opposing faces. The reduced 5 mm interior width creates a 1.75 ml working volume — half that of a standard 3.5 ml cell — conserving precious samples while maintaining the full 10 mm optical path for Beer–Lambert law compliance. Fabricated using Molded 83 — a 1200 °C fusion process with ±0.02 mm dimensional tolerance — achieving >83% transmittance with the highest optical quality. Includes a PTFE stopper for evaporation-free, contamination-resistant sealing.

Why Stoppered Micro Fluorescence?

This cuvette combines three advantages for demanding fluorescence work: the micro volume design (1.75 ml vs 3.5 ml standard) conserves precious or limited-quantity samples; the four-way optical windows enable 90° fluorescence geometry for optimal excitation/emission separation; and the PTFE stopper provides evaporation-free sealing critical for volatile solvents and extended kinetic measurements. The Molded 83 fabrication (±0.02 mm tolerance) ensures the highest dimensional precision and optical consistency, making this cuvette ideal for quantitative fluorescence studies where reproducibility is paramount.

Why Micro Volume?

Internal quartz masking walls narrow the measurement chamber to 5 mm while maintaining the full 10 mm optical path (Beer–Lambert law: A = εlc). This saves 50% of sample compared to a standard 3.5 ml cuvette, making it ideal for precious biological samples, expensive reagents, or limited column fractions. Unlike ultra-micro cuvettes with raised platforms, the micro volume design keeps the sample at full column height — compatible with all spectrophotometer beam heights (8.5 mm, 15 mm, or 20 mm) without verification.

Usage Tips: Handle by the top rim only — all four optical faces must remain free of fingerprints. Fill to at least 15 mm above the beam center height. The PTFE stopper provides a tighter seal than PTFE caps, ideal for volatile samples. Compatible with most laboratory solvents. Avoid HF (hydrofluoric acid). Compatible with Shimadzu, Agilent, PerkinElmer, Thermo Fisher, JASCO, Horiba, Edinburgh Instruments, and most commercial fluorimeters and UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
