Using this cell

Fill the cell so the liquid covers the beam path used in your instrument, then fit the closure before measurement. Remove visible bubbles from the reading zone and keep the optical faces free from fingerprints, droplets and residue.

If your method depends on a fixed orientation, keep the same cell orientation between blank and sample runs. Handle the cuvette by non-optical surfaces to avoid marking the clear windows.

First-use check

Inspect the quartz body and optical faces for chips, scratches, dust or residue.
Rinse with a cleaning liquid suitable for both your method and the complete assembled cell.
Run a blank in the intended measurement orientation and check that the beam passes through a bubble-free sample region.

Fit and optical alignment

Match your method to the 2 mm path length before ordering. Four-Way Light describes the optical access category of the cell body, but your holder and instrument still need the right beam position and side clearance for the way you intend to use the cell.

Solvents and cleaning

If your method involves aggressive chemicals, long contact time or elevated temperature, check compatibility for the assembled cell, including the closure.

Do not use hydrofluoric acid on quartz. Avoid hot strong alkalis and abrasive cleaning materials. Clean the optical faces gently with non-abrasive optical tissue or other suitable laboratory wipes.
