Large-Port Quartz Flow Cell: Planning the Tubing Route (MQQFC103)
Custom design guide · MQQFC103
Two quartz end tubes, OD8 mm and ID5 mm, flank a 2.6 mL nominal chamber. This layout brings the tube-to-hose connection and the optical holder into the same selection decision.
The situations and proposed changes below are planning examples, not completed customer projects.

Match the hose connection to the quartz tube
For a fluid route built around a 5 mm bore, MQQFC103 provides a concrete geometry to review: two opposed quartz tubes with an 8 mm outside diameter and a 5 mm inside diameter. The outside dimension matters to a hose fitted over the tube; the inside dimension describes the bore at that connection.
The optical body is 30 × 12.5 × 12.5 mm, and the fixed overall span is 46 mm. Show the beam, holder and connected tubing on one sketch. A body that fits the support can still leave too little room for a hose or connector at an end.

How the structure differs from a conventional cell
The end tubes replace top loading as the planned fluid-access route. This lets sample delivery be arranged around a located optical body, but adds joints and hoses to support. Keep the nominal 10 mm optical path separate from the 30 mm body length and 46 mm overall span; they describe different parts of the configuration.

Retain the interface that already works
If your existing hose fits an 8 mm tube exterior, identify that outside diameter as a feature to retain. If a connector seals on the end or another surface, show that interface instead. The seal position and installed hose direction determine what a useful tube change looks like.
For a different bore, include the medium, particle or deposit characteristics and the filling conditions. We can review the connection together with the chamber and joint geometry. A larger opening at one point does not establish particle passage or resistance to blockage through the complete route.

Three checks for the proposed setup
- Seal location. Show whether the hose or fitting seals on the exterior, end or another surface.
- Optical clearance. Keep the joint and connected hose outside the required beam region.
- Tubing support. Provide a route that does not bend or load either quartz tube.
Look at filling in the installed orientation
Plan filling and emptying checks with the cell supported as it will be used. Observe where liquid or bubbles remain before drawing conclusions about the optical method. Agree cleaning and leakage checks for the actual medium and construction; the Molded 83 designation alone supplies neither a pressure rating nor chemical-compatibility evidence.
Should I specify the hose inside diameter or the cell bore?
Specify both sides of the connection. For this configuration, the quartz tube is OD8 mm / ID5 mm. Send the hose or fitting specification and explain where it must seal; the cell bore alone cannot define a suitable hose connection.
Engineering dimension reference
The reference records known external dimensions and configuration notes. Internal geometry, tolerances and operating limits still require a project-specific specification.
