0.5 mm Flat Quartz Flow Cell: Routing Both Ports from One Face (MQQFC138)
Custom design guide · MQQFC138
Two ports emerge from the same broad face of a thin, nominal 0.5 mm-path body. This layout can simplify access from one side of an enclosure, provided tube height, clamps and the required sample amount are reviewed together.
The situations and proposed changes below are planning examples, not completed customer projects.

Bring both connections to the accessible side
When an enclosure leaves fluid access on only one side of a flat optical component, port direction becomes a central design choice. MQQFC138 illustrates a same-face arrangement: two quartz tubes project near opposite ends of a 40 × 14.5 × 3 mm body.
The nominal optical path is 0.5 mm; each tube is annotated OD3 mm / ID2 mm. The joints, fittings and hoses occupy space above the thin body. Show them in a section through the enclosure, rather than using the 3 mm body thickness as the installed height.
The listed configuration
Configuration to confirm: If sample availability is critical, confirm the working fill and complete circuit demand. The 136 µL value is the listed nominal cell capacity.

How the structure differs from a conventional cell
The sample occupies a broad, shallow region instead of a deeper top-loaded chamber. Moving both connections to one face changes which enclosure surfaces need access and which body margins remain available for support. Thin-layer filling, useful optical area and tube loading become important parts of that arrangement.

Keep the optical area while moving obstructed ports
If a clamp clashes with a tube, mark the optical area and support lands to retain, then show the allowed port locations and directions. Add the fitted connection outline. We can review access and support around the sample region rather than treating a smaller outside body as the only option.
If available sample is the deciding constraint, specify the working amount and complete circuit demand. The listed nominal cell capacity is 136 µL; the 34 × 10 × 0.5 mm chamber annotation describes geometry. Neither a simple geometric product nor the nominal figure establishes the minimum working amount for your optical and fluid setup.

Three checks for the proposed setup
- Dimension objects. Keep the 0.5 mm path, 3 mm body and tube projections separate.
- Support and hoses. Keep clamp contacts and connection loads away from optical areas and fragile joints.
- Sample limit. Confirm the relevant cell volume and complete circuit demand.
Plan filling around the installed orientation
Label the intended inlet and outlet and show how the body is mounted. Plan observations of continuous filling, retained bubbles and sample clearance. Agree media, cleaning and leakage conditions before operation; no exchange time or working-pressure rating is established by the current information.
What drawing is most useful for a same-face port change?
Send a section showing the optical region, body supports, enclosure wall, permitted tube directions and fitted hose envelope. Add the sample-volume limit if it is critical, so that the capacity definition is resolved before assessing the revised layout.
Engineering dimension reference
The reference records known external dimensions and configuration notes. Internal geometry, tolerances and operating limits still require a project-specific specification.
