Thin Quartz Square Ring: Defining the Opening and Support Border
Custom Design Guides · MQQPL583
A square ring leaves the centre open while retaining a surrounding quartz border. MQQPL583 is listed as JGS1 quartz with a 35 × 35 × 0.3 mm outside envelope. It is a frame-shaped part, not a solid transparent window.
The missing dimensions are important: the outside size does not define the inside opening or border width. Start with the area that must stay open and the surfaces available to support the thin frame.

The configuration discussed here
What changes from the simpler form?
Removing the centre from a thin square plate creates a frame with an open aperture and a narrow support border. The remaining border and its seating need specification; the opening is not automatically a sealed sample gap.
Give the opening its own dimensions
A surrounding support may accept a 35 mm square while obstructing part of the central opening. Mark the clear area required by the application and identify the support overlap on each side. An outside dimension alone cannot define that relationship.
If the frame meets other plates, show their contact borders too. The ring should not acquire an assumed sealing or locating function without the mating arrangement being described.
Thickness is not an assembled sample gap
The 0.3 mm value describes the listed part thickness. It does not establish an assembled liquid-layer thickness, optical path or seal compression. Those depend on the actual mating parts and the agreed contact arrangement.
For a hypothetical sample-cell design, mark the retained frame geometry and the proposed plates separately. MQ would need the complete assembly requirements before discussing the sample space and closure.
Support the border without covering the purpose
Describe how the thin part is handled, located and supported during assembly. Include the region a tool may touch and the border that must remain available for contact. A narrow frame is not selected by treating it as a full plate with the centre ignored.
If an existing frame must be replaced, provide the mating drawing or part rather than a photograph alone. Critical inside dimensions and thickness tolerances need an explicit reference.
Make a custom opening a defined request
A possible change is to retain the outside envelope while adjusting the central opening for an existing fixture. Supply the required clear opening and minimum contact region, then identify any corner or edge requirement that matters.
Any material, dimensional or surface-quality record should be specified for the ordered frame. The reference does not establish a manufacturing tolerance, leakage result or optical performance for a completed assembly.

Does a 0.3 mm frame make a 0.3 mm optical sample layer?
That cannot be concluded from the part thickness. The complete plate, contact and closure arrangement must define the sample layer. Specify the assembled gap or path requirement separately.
Send a drawing or the mating-part details
Send the mating-part section and mark the opening that must remain clear. MQ can then review the ring as a frame with specific contact regions.
- Outside envelope and required clear opening
- Border widths and mating contact regions
- Thickness and critical dimensional tolerances
- Handling, support and assembly method
- Material or surface requirements, quantity and inspection scope
Modified designs are reviewed for the project. The drawing, supplied parts, quantity, inspection scope, price and preparation or production time are agreed in the quotation.
Details to settle for the ordered configuration
Inside dimensions, corner geometry, thickness tolerance, assembly behaviour and surface quality remain to be confirmed.
