Shallow Quartz Cell: Three Internal Features and Sample Clearance (MQQFL080)
Custom Design Guides · MQQFL080
MQQFL080 has a shallow open quartz chamber with three small features visible on its inner base. The reference outside envelope is 24 × 24 × 8 mm; the selected nominal path option is 20 mm.
A useful enquiry separates the contacts inside the chamber from the holder supporting its outside. If a sample or insert is intended to meet the raised features, show that contact on a section drawing.

The configuration discussed here
What changes from the simpler form?
Adding raised features to the inner base changes the available sample or insert contacts within a shallow cell. That is separate from changing the outside holder: the chamber, internal contacts and external seating need distinct references.
Identify what the internal features should contact
Mark the three features and describe their intended role. If an insert or solid specimen is proposed, provide its underside, footprint and required position. Do not assign a support or locating function from the feature count alone.
The mating section should show the relevant contact faces and clearances. Three visible features are not evidence of a kinematic mount, a load rating or a measured positioning result.
Keep loading access and the viewing region clear
The open chamber provides access above the inner base. Show the loading tool and the region needed by the sample or insert, including the path used to remove it.
Mark the optical direction and any space that must remain unobstructed. Internal features, an inserted part and the sample can share that space, so their positions need review together.
Separate the inner arrangement from the outside holder
The holder still locates and supports the outside of the quartz cell. Give its seating surfaces and allowed contacts independently of any proposed contact on the inner base.
For example, an insert could be discussed while retaining the shallow cell envelope. MQ would need the insert section, desired sample position and existing holder references before reviewing a change to the inner features.
Define the result and its inspection references
If placement repeatability matters, specify the reference direction and the result to check with the actual insert and cell. The three-feature pattern alone does not establish that result.
Agree feature positions, local dimensions and any required optical or dimensional checks. Include the sample conditions and any contact-load requirement without assuming a verified clamp or support limit.

What should I send if an insert needs to sit inside this cell?
Include the insert footprint and underside section, its intended position, and the contact faces proposed for the three inner-base features. Add the outside-holder drawing so the two sets of contacts can be reviewed together.
Send a drawing or the mating-part details
Send the inner sample or insert section alongside the outside-holder drawing. MQ can then review the three features without confusing the two sets of contacts.
- Inner-feature positions and proposed purpose
- Sample or insert underside and contact section
- Required sample position and optical region
- Outside-holder contacts and loading or removal route
- Local dimensions, conditions and positioning acceptance
Modified designs are reviewed for the project. The drawing, supplied parts, quantity, inspection scope, price and preparation or production time are agreed in the quotation.
Details to settle for the ordered configuration
Feature roles, dimensions, loads, positioning performance and optical or holder compatibility require confirmation.
