Quartz Cell with a Bottom M5 Feature: Defining the Mating Part
Custom Design Guides · MQQFC145
MQQFC145 is the nominal 10 mm path, 600 µL quartz-cell reference with a bottom feature designated M5. The visible body also has top connection fittings.
The bottom thread's purpose is not established here. It should remain a labelled mating feature until a drawing identifies whether and how it relates to the proposed setup.

In this guide: Configuration · Design comparison · Keep the bottom feature's function open until verified · Locate the window from the holder datum · Use 600 µL as the nominal capacity designation · Review the complete connected envelope · Enquiry
The configuration discussed here
What changes from the simpler form?
The bottom M5 feature adds a mating reference beyond the optical body and top fittings. Its function must be settled before it can be incorporated into either the holder or fluid design.
Keep the bottom feature's function open until verified
Show the feature in section with its thread, depth, seating surfaces and relationship to the sample space. Do not label it a mounting hole or fluid port solely from the M5 designation.
Provide the proposed mating part and the task it must perform. That lets MQ review an actual interface instead of carrying an uncertain name into a custom drawing.
Locate the window from the holder datum
The listed 3.5 × 17.5 mm window region needs a position reference relative to the fixture. Matching the cell outside section does not establish beam alignment with that region.
Give the optical direction and the area that must remain clear. Keep the bottom feature and any mating part out of the support or optical arrangement until their roles are settled.
Use 600 µL as the nominal capacity designation
The listed capacity is not a demonstrated minimum working amount or external-system volume. The required fill depends on the sample region, preparation method and connected lines.
If a small sample amount is the main reason for selection, state the amount available and the coverage or recovery requirement. Those needs can be reviewed without promising a measured filling result.
Review the complete connected envelope
Show the top fittings, lines and proposed bottom mating part in their installed positions. Include insertion and service access as well as the resting envelope.
For a custom version, the critical change may be the mating feature rather than the optical body. Agree its function, dimensions and acceptance first, alongside any required optical or fluid checks.

Is the M5 feature a mounting point?
Its function is not confirmed by the available designation. A section and mating-part definition are needed before assigning a mounting or fluid role.
Send a drawing or the mating-part details
Send the M5 mating detail with the optical-holder section. MQ can then review the bottom feature without building a design around an unverified role.
- Bottom-feature section and intended function
- Exact mating part, thread and engagement
- Window position and holder datum
- Working sample and top-line arrangement
- Dimensional, optical and fluid acceptance
Modified designs are reviewed for the project. The drawing, supplied parts, quantity, inspection scope, price and preparation or production time are agreed in the quotation.
Details to settle for the ordered configuration
Bottom-feature function, thread details, minimum fill, alignment and operating performance require confirmation.
