Circular Quartz Cell with an Edge Filling Hole: Planning Filling and Venting
Custom Design Guides · MQQCU019
MQQCU019 is the thin circular quartz-cell reference with a small square edge opening marked 1.5 × 1.5 mm. The edge feature creates a different loading task from a broad mouth or stopper neck.
The opening size does not establish how the chamber is filled, vented or closed. The preparation route and the supported orientation need to be defined around the actual sample.

In this guide: Configuration · Design comparison · Match the loading tool to the edge feature · Draw the proposed filling and venting route · Leave the opening accessible in the holder · Define any closure separately · Enquiry
The configuration discussed here
What changes from the simpler form?
A small edge opening replaces broad top access in a thin circular form. Loading-tool approach, displaced-gas routing and holder clearance therefore become central to the preparation discussion.
Match the loading tool to the edge feature
Provide the tool's outside dimensions, approach and required reach. A nominal opening may leave little clearance once the holder and surrounding apparatus are included.
Show whether the cell is loaded before or after it is placed in the support. The reference does not prescribe an insertion procedure or establish that a particular tip fits.
Draw the proposed filling and venting route
Identify the chamber boundaries and the route by which displaced gas is intended to leave. A small opening alone is not evidence of bubble-free filling or repeatable sample coverage.
If bubble control, sample recovery or a limited amount is important, state the result needed and the preparation conditions. MQ can review those needs without presenting a concept as a demonstrated fluid-handling method.
Leave the opening accessible in the holder
Mark the circular support contacts and the angular position of the edge opening. The holder can locate the body while accidentally covering the feature needed for loading.
For example, a changed edge-opening position could be discussed for an existing fixture. That proposal needs the optical region and the loading-tool envelope on the same view.
Define any closure separately
State whether and how the edge opening is to be closed during the proposed use. A supplied stopper, seal or permanent closure is not established by the visible opening.
Agree the opening size and position, the optical requirements and any filling or containment acceptance on a configuration-specific basis. This keeps a small access feature from carrying unsupported performance claims.

Does the small edge opening guarantee bubble-free filling?
No. Filling depends on the chamber, tool, venting route and preparation method. State the required result and verification conditions separately.
Send a drawing or the mating-part details
Send the cell in its loading orientation with the tool and venting route shown. MQ can review the small edge feature around the preparation task.
- Loading tool dimensions and approach
- Chamber section and proposed venting route
- Opening position relative to holder contacts
- Working sample, coverage and recovery requirements
- Closure, optical and acceptance requirements
Modified designs are reviewed for the project. The drawing, supplied parts, quantity, inspection scope, price and preparation or production time are agreed in the quotation.
Details to settle for the ordered configuration
Internal route, working amount, closure and filling or optical performance require agreement.
