3 mm Broad Quartz Cuvette: A Short Path Without a Small Chamber
CUSTOM DESIGN GUIDE · C032WS
C032WS combines a 3 mm optical path with a broad, tall chamber and nominal 8 mL capacity. It shows why a short-path cuvette is not necessarily a low-volume cell. Here, the thin sample direction and the larger sample space are separate design choices.

Shorten the viewing distance while keeping a broad sample space
The outside body is 42 × 5 × 72 mm, with a labelled 1 mm wall. Its width and height create the broad outline, while the short sample path lies through the thin direction. The two-way optical arrangement uses the broad faces on either side of that layer.
This form is worth considering in a proposed observation layout that needs a larger sample area but a short distance through it. It answers a different question from a microcell designed primarily to reduce the amount of sample. The nominal 8 mL capacity makes that distinction visible.
C032WS configuration
The useful viewing area sits inside the outside outline
The beam or observation field has a position within the broad face. The holder must leave that region accessible and locate it consistently when the cell is inserted. Supporting a wide cell at its edges is a different layout from gripping a small square body.
For a custom instrument, the useful drawing shows the required field, support contacts and top opening together. That can reveal whether the extra width belongs to the sample chamber, the supporting border or both.
Fill for the observation, not for the nameplate capacity
Liquid enters through the open top. The working level needs to cover the chosen observation region in the installed orientation. An 8 mL nominal capacity does not mean every measurement uses that amount, or that any smaller amount will cover the field.
A loading routine also needs room to approach and leave the opening. In a tall, broad cell, the pipette route and the way the body is lifted from its holder can matter more than a small reduction in outside thickness.
A custom example: retain the path and narrow the body
ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN EXAMPLE
Suppose the 3 mm layer and observation height suit the method, but the holder cannot accept the full width. The proposal can identify the sample area that must remain and the border or chamber width available to change. This makes the design consequence of narrowing the cell explicit instead of treating it as an outside-only adjustment.
