100 mm Quartz Flow Cell: A Long Optical Path in a Slim Body
CUSTOM DESIGN GUIDE · MQQFC075
MQQFC075 puts a nominal 100 mm optical path into a slender quartz body with 1.4 mL nominal capacity. Two tubes emerge from the top, with one extending 2 mm inward. It is a reference for optical layouts that need length along the beam rather than a taller upright cell.

Why extend the path along the sample?
A long absorption path is worth evaluating when the sample absorbance is low. Under Beer–Lambert conditions, a 100 mm sample distance gives ten times the absorbance of a 10 mm path for the same homogeneous sample and wavelength. That is a path-length relationship, not a tenfold improvement in detection limit. [1]
The reference body is 102.5 × 8.5 × 5.5 mm. Its long dimension accommodates the sample route while the other two dimensions keep a low, narrow outline. This is a different footprint from an upright cuvette and needs a correspondingly different support.
MQQFC075 configuration
The tube that reaches inward is a separate feature
Both tubes have a 2 mm outside diameter and 1 mm bore. One has a specified 2 mm inward extension. The connection sketch should keep that end identifiable, because the inside geometry is not identical at the two tube positions.
The intended fluid direction follows the proposed filling and exchange routine. It cannot be assigned from the inward extension alone. The chamber, top tubes and external lines together describe how the sample is introduced and removed.
A small chamber does not eliminate the sample route outside it
The nominal 1.4 mL value describes the cell configuration. Supply tubing and the flushing procedure add liquid requirements outside that chamber. Tube bore also matters to the fluid line: back pressure depends on tubing length, bore, flow and liquid viscosity. [2]
For mounting, the useful layout shows support along the body, the optical ends and clearance above both tubes. The long-path choice works only if the instrument can place the beam through the sample region without the supports or connections obstructing it.
A custom example: retain the long path and reroute the upper connections
ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN EXAMPLE
Suppose the 100 mm path suits the measurement, but a cover allows tubing to approach only from one area above the cell. A proposed layout can retain the chamber and define the two tube positions around that access. The inward-reaching tube remains separately identified on the same drawing.
