5 mm Black-Wall Quartz Cuvette: Arranging Excitation and Collection
CUSTOM DESIGN GUIDE · C054CS
C054CS has clear optical windows within a black exterior, a 5 mm path and nominal 875 µL capacity. For a fluorescence layout, the important feature is where those windows sit relative to illumination and collection. The black outside and the clear sample routes perform different roles in the design.

Follow the light routes through the windows
Fluorescence arrangements often illuminate the sample through one face and collect emitted light through another. The cell therefore needs more than a beam through one pair of opposite walls. The listed four-way access of C054CS supplies a starting window layout for those directions. [1]
The elongated clear regions should be located against the actual excitation and collection paths. Their position matters more than whether the outside body looks familiar. A support touching a clear region can obstruct a route even when it holds the cell securely.
C054CS configuration
A 5 mm path inside a square outside footprint
The body is 12.5 × 12.5 × 45 mm, while the sample path is 5 mm. The square footprint describes mounting; the path describes the sample distance. Reducing the path does not necessarily reduce the outside base in the same proportion.
The open top provides the loading route. The working liquid level needs to cover the observation region used by the instrument, rather than merely meet a nominal volume. A proposed cover adds its own height and removal step.
What does the black exterior tell you?
It identifies a different window-and-surround arrangement from an all-clear cell. It does not provide a measured value for stray-light suppression, fluorescence signal or detection limit. Those results depend on the full optical arrangement and measurement.
The useful selection question is whether the clear regions match the directions needed by the method. If collection moves to another face, the window layout can become the custom-design subject while the sample path remains unchanged.
A custom example: move the collection window
ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN EXAMPLE
Suppose the existing sample path is suitable, but a detector approaches from a different direction. The proposal can identify the clear area needed on that face and the areas that remain outside the viewing route. This describes a window-layout change without treating appearance as evidence of improved optical performance.
