Quartz 10mm Cylindrical Screw-Cap Cuvette, 2.8 ml, Sintered 83, Four-Way Light, Screw Cap, 1pc/ea, C102TS1
Description
The C102TS1 is a quartz stoppered cylindrical screw-cap cuvette with 10 mm path length and four-way light optical configuration — all four vertical faces are polished to optical grade, providing the standard 90° fluorescence geometry plus additional optical access. With a 2.8 ml internal volume (10 × 37 × 18 mm chamber), the cell is compatible with most commercial spectrophotometers and fluorimeters. Fabricated using Sintered 83 (>83% transmittance) — quartz panels are thermally fused at approximately 600 °C, producing joints free of organic adhesive. The PTFE stopper seals the cuvette opening, preventing evaporation of volatile samples and protecting air-sensitive or hygroscopic solutions during measurement.

Spectroscopy Applications
Why Four-Way Light?
The four-way configuration polishes all four vertical faces to optical grade — the standard geometry for fluorescence spectroscopy. The excitation beam enters through one face and emission is collected at 90° through an adjacent face, minimizing excitation light contamination in the emission signal. The additional two polished faces allow the cuvette to be rotated for alternative measurement geometries or simultaneous absorbance monitoring during fluorescence experiments.
Cylindrical Design
Unlike standard rectangular cuvettes, this cylindrical cell features a round cross-section (22 mm outer diameter, 18 mm inner diameter) with a screw cap closure. The cylindrical geometry eliminates corner effects and provides uniform wall thickness, making it particularly suitable for circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and optical rotation measurements where polarization artifacts from flat windows can introduce errors. The round profile also facilitates thorough cleaning and minimizes sample trapping in corners.
Screw Cap Closure
The PTFE-lined screw cap provides secure, leak-resistant closure that allows the cuvette to be inverted for mixing, transported between workstations, or used in automated sample changers without risk of leakage. The PTFE liner is chemically inert and contributes no background absorbance or fluorescence. The threaded design allows one-handed operation and consistent sealing pressure.
Why Sintered 83 Construction?
Sintered 83 cuvettes are assembled by thermally fusing precision quartz panels at approximately 600 °C, eliminating organic adhesive from the joints. The resulting cuvette is compatible with strong acids, bases, and most organic solvents (excluding HF and aggressive organics such as toluene and acetone). With transmittance >83%, optical performance surpasses adhesive-bonded alternatives. Sintered construction is the preferred choice when solvent resistance is required but the higher cost of fully molded cuvettes is not justified.
