Description

The C105TE is a quartz large screw-cap cuvette with 10mm path length and five-way light optical configuration — four vertical faces and the bottom face are polished to optical grade, enabling standard absorbance, 90° fluorescence, and downward/upward detection geometries. With a 3.5ml internal volume (10 × 10 × 40 mm chamber), the cell is compatible with most commercial spectrophotometers. Fabricated using Molded 83 (>83% transmittance) — precision-molded from a single piece of quartz, eliminating adhesive joints entirely. The PTFE-lined screw cap threads securely onto the cuvette, providing a leak-proof seal that prevents evaporation of volatile solvents and protects air-sensitive samples. Why Five-Way Light?

Five-way light cuvettes have four vertical faces and the bottom face polished to optical grade. In addition to standard transmission and 90° fluorescence measurements, the polished bottom enables downward excitation or upward emission collection — a geometry used in total-internal-reflection fluorescence (TIRF) and certain plate-reader-style instruments.

Why a PTFE-Lined Screw Cap?

The internal-thread screw cap design provides the most secure closure available for standard cuvettes. Unlike friction-fit caps or stoppers, the threaded connection resists accidental opening during sample handling, vortex mixing, or transport. The PTFE liner ensures chemical inertness and a tight seal against vapour loss — critical when working with volatile organic solvents, concentrated acids, or extended kinetic measurements. The screw cap can be repeatedly removed and replaced without degradation.

Why Molded 83?

Molded 83 uses monolithic fused-quartz construction — no adhesive joints — delivering >83% UV transmittance from 200–2500 nm. Because there are no glue seams, the cell withstands all common laboratory solvents, concentrated acids, and bases (avoid HF). This fabrication is ideal for demanding analytical workflows where chemical resistance, long service life, and maximum optical clarity are priorities.

Usage Tips

Rinse with a compatible solvent (e.g., ethanol or the measurement solvent) before first use to remove any residual particles.
Do not use abrasive materials or brushes on the polished optical faces — wipe gently with lens tissue.
Withstands all common laboratory solvents, concentrated acids, and bases. Avoid HF (hydrofluoric acid).
Store in the original protective case to prevent scratches on the optical windows.
For baseline correction, fill with your reference solvent, cap the cuvette, and run a blank before sample measurements.
