Description

The C014CR12 is a IR quartz (JGS3 fused silica) standard cuvette with 1 mm path length and four-way light optical windows (all four sides optically polished), designed for fluorescence and Vis-NIR and mid-IR spectrophotometry across 260–3500 nm. The four-way configuration allows simultaneous excitation and emission measurements at 90° — the standard geometry for fluorescence spectroscopy — while maintaining full UV-Vis absorbance capability through any pair of opposing faces. Fabricated using Sintered 83 — a high-temperature sintering process at 600 °C that fuses quartz components without adhesive — this cuvette achieves >83% transmittance with excellent chemical resistance to acids, bases, and organic solvents. The sintered bond withstands repeated thermal cycling without degradation. Includes a ptfe cap for chemical-resistant sealing. Supplied as a pack of two for cost-effective parallel or comparative experiments.

Why This Cuvette?

The four-way (all-clear) optical windows enable simultaneous 90° excitation and emission measurements — the standard geometry for fluorescence spectroscopy. All four faces are optically polished to the same high standard, so you can rotate the cuvette and use any pair of opposing faces as the measurement path. The 1 mm path length reduces absorbance by 10× compared to a standard 10 mm cuvette (Beer-Lambert law: A = εlc), making it well-suited for moderately concentrated samples that would saturate a longer-path cell.

Usage Tips: Handle by the top rim only — all four faces are optically polished windows and fingerprints will degrade your signal. Fill to at least 15 mm above the beam center height. For fluorescence measurements, orient the excitation beam through one face and position the emission detector at 90° to the adjacent face. Use matching cuvettes for blank reference to minimize cuvette-to-cuvette variation. Clean with spectroscopic-grade solvent and lint-free tissue. Compatible with Shimadzu, Agilent, PerkinElmer, Thermo Fisher, JASCO, Horiba, Edinburgh Instruments, and most commercial fluorescence and UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
