Description

The C022SF is a quartz stoppered cuvette with 2 mm path length and two-way light optical configuration — two opposite vertical faces are polished to optical grade, forming the standard transmission geometry for UV-Vis absorbance measurements. With a micro 924 µl internal volume (2 × 10.5 × 44 mm chamber), the cell is compatible with most commercial spectrophotometers. Fabricated using Molded 83 (ultra-precision, ±0.01 mm tolerance) — the cuvette body is integrally fused as a single piece with no adhesive joints. The PTFE stopper seals the cuvette opening, preventing evaporation of volatile samples and protecting air-sensitive or hygroscopic solutions during measurement.

Why Two-Way Light?

The two-way configuration polishes two opposite vertical faces to optical grade — the standard geometry for UV-Vis absorbance (transmission) measurements. The excitation beam passes through one polished face, traverses the sample path, and exits through the opposite polished face to the detector. The two non-polished (frosted) faces reduce stray-light scatter, improving photometric accuracy. This is the most common and cost-effective configuration for routine absorbance work.

PTFE Stopper

The PTFE stopper creates an airtight seal over the cuvette opening, preventing solvent evaporation during extended measurements and protecting air-sensitive or hygroscopic samples from atmospheric exposure. PTFE is chemically inert to virtually all laboratory solvents and contributes no background absorbance or fluorescence, ensuring clean spectra. The stopper fits snugly by friction and can be removed and replaced one-handed for rapid sample exchange. Ideal for volatile solvents, long kinetic runs, and any application where maintaining sample concentration and composition is critical.

Why Molded 83 (Ultra-Precision) Construction?

Molded 83 represents the highest tier of cuvette fabrication: an integrally fused monolithic body with dimensional tolerance of ±0.01 mm — twice as precise as standard Molded 83 (±0.02 mm). This ultra-precision manufacturing ensures exceptional path-length accuracy and batch-to-batch reproducibility, critical for quantitative analytical work where sub-percent absorbance accuracy is required. The monolithic construction withstands all common laboratory solvents, concentrated acids, and bases; avoid HF (hydrofluoric acid).

Usage Tips: Handle by non-optical surfaces only — fingerprints on polished faces introduce scattering artifacts. Ensure the stopper is fully seated before inverting or transporting the cuvette.
