Description
The C0.12CE is a precision quartz ultra-short path cuvette with 0.1mm path length and two-way light windows, designed for UV-Vis and NIR spectrophotometry (190–2500 nm). The extremely short 0.1mm optical path reduces absorbance by 100× compared to a standard 10mm cuvette (per the Beer-Lambert law, A = εlc), enabling direct measurement of undiluted, highly concentrated, or strongly absorbing samples — including neat solvents, concentrated dyes, whole blood, and opaque formulations — that would completely saturate a longer-path cell. Fabricated using the Molded 83 precision technique (>83% transmittance, 1200°C fusion, ±0.02mm tolerance), which is critical at this path length where even 0.01mm variation represents a 10% change in optical path. Includes a PTFE cap.

Applications
Why 0.1mm Path Length?
At 0.1mm, the optical path is 100× shorter than a standard 10mm cuvette, reducing measured absorbance proportionally. This allows direct spectroscopic measurement of samples that are far too concentrated or opaque for conventional cells — concentrated protein solutions, undiluted pharmaceutical formulations, whole blood, neat organic solvents, and dense colloidal suspensions. Eliminating the need for serial dilution preserves sample integrity, saves preparation time, and avoids dilution-induced artifacts such as pH shifts or protein denaturation. The Molded 83 construction (±0.02mm) is essential here: at 0.1mm path length, a 0.01mm error represents 10% of the total path, so precision fabrication directly translates to measurement accuracy.
