Description

The C0.22WS is a quartz counting cell with 0.2 mm path length and two-way light windows (two polished optical faces for standard UV-Vis absorbance geometry), holding 16 ul of sample. The cell measures 4 × 15 × 30 mm externally. The cell features a removable quartz cover for easy sample loading, cleaning, and optical coupling. Fabricated using Standard 80 technique with precision-glued quartz construction, delivering >80% transmittance across the 190-2500 nm range. The quartz body is suitable for aqueous (water-based) solutions only. Do not use with organic solvents, strong acids, or strong bases.

Why Two-Way Light Windows?

The two-way configuration provides two optically polished opposing faces for standard transmission-mode spectroscopy (UV-Vis, NIR). The remaining two walls are frosted (ground) to suppress internal reflections and stray light, improving baseline stability and measurement reproducibility. This is the most common geometry for absorbance-based flow analysis — compatible with virtually every single-beam and double-beam spectrophotometer on the market.

Why a Flow Cell?

Flow cells enable continuous, real-time spectroscopic monitoring without manual sample handling. Counting cells feature precision-machined optical paths at sub-millimeter dimensions, enabling accurate particle or cell enumeration by light extinction or light scattering. The removable cover simplifies sample loading and cleaning between runs. Quartz construction ensures UV transparency for applications ranging from hematology counters to semiconductor particle monitors.

Why Standard 80 Fabrication?

The Standard 80 fabrication uses precision UV-cured adhesive to bond high-purity quartz panels. This method delivers >80% transmittance across the UV-Vis-NIR spectrum while keeping costs accessible. The adhesive joints are optically transparent and spectrally neutral, making Standard 80 cells an excellent choice for routine measurements in aqueous media where aggressive solvents are not required.

Usage Tips: Place the counting cell with its optical faces aligned to the light source and detector. Ensure the sample is free of air bubbles before measurement — bubbles can be mistaken for particles. Clean the cell between samples using spectroscopic-grade solvent followed by deionized water. Handle by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the optical faces. The quartz cover should sit flat without air gaps for accurate readings. Store in a protective case when not in use.
