Description

The C1002CH is a precision quartz standard cuvette with 100mm path length and two-way light windows, designed for UV-Vis and NIR spectrophotometry (190–2500 nm). The extended 100mm optical path provides 10× the absorbance sensitivity of a standard 10mm cuvette according to the Beer-Lambert law (A = εlc), making it the instrument of choice for trace-level detection of analytes at sub-ppm concentrations where shorter path lengths yield insufficient signal. Fabricated using the Sintered 83 precision technique (>83% transmittance, 600°C sintering) with high-purity fused silica, ensuring excellent optical clarity across the full UV-Vis-NIR range. Includes a PTFE cap for chemical-resistant sealing.

The 100mm optical path delivers a 10-fold increase in absorbance compared to the standard 10mm cuvette, as described by the Beer-Lambert law (A = εlc). This dramatic sensitivity boost is essential for detecting analytes at parts-per-billion (ppb) concentrations — such as trace metals in drinking water, residual solvents in pharmaceuticals, or ultra-low impurity levels in high-purity chemicals — where a 10mm cell would produce absorbance values too close to the instrument noise floor. The Sintered 83 fabrication ensures superior optical quality, minimizing stray light and baseline artifacts that become critical at these extended path lengths.

Usage Tips: Handle by frosted side walls only — never touch optical windows. Rinse immediately after use. Due to the long path, ensure sample is free of particulates to avoid scattering artifacts. Fill slowly to avoid trapping air bubbles along the 100mm light path. Compatible with most laboratory solvents. Avoid HF (hydrofluoric acid). Compatible with Shimadzu, Agilent, PerkinElmer, Thermo Fisher, JASCO, and most commercial spectrophotometers with extended sample holders.
