Description
C102SD is a JGS1 quartz ultra-micro cuvette for UV/Vis spectroscopy, combining a 10 mm optical path with a 50 µL nominal capacity in a Two-Way Light format. This stoppered version is useful when you want a covered sample chamber during transfer and measurement setup, especially for volatile solutions. MQ currently lists this SKU as 1 cuvette per price unit, with a stopper included.

Choose this option
Choose C102SD when your method needs a 10 mm transmission path but you want a smaller nominal fill and a stoppered top rather than open access. The 50 µL nominal capacity suits low-volume preparation, while the stopper-equipped format helps keep the sample covered during normal handling and placement into the holder.
What makes this option different
- 10 mm optical path for UV/Vis methods that use this standard path length.
- 50 µL nominal capacity for low-volume sample preparation and handling.
- Two-Way Light layout for straight-through transmission measurements.
- Stopper-equipped format rather than an open-top sample chamber.
- Identified for volatile-solution use, with covered handling during routine measurement setup.
Using this cell
Fill the cuvette carefully so the illuminated sample region is fully covered, then seat the stopper gently before measurement. Keep the blank and sample in the same orientation, and check for bubbles before placing the cell into the instrument.
The nominal 50 µL figure describes the cuvette capacity, not the minimum working volume. The fill level you need depends on the beam position and the actual sample region used in your holder.
First-use check
- Inspect the optical faces and stopper seating area before first use.
- Rinse with a suitable liquid for your method and dry the outer optical faces gently.
- Run a blank and confirm that the sample covers the beam path without bubbles or voids.
Fit and optical alignment
This is a Two-Way Light cuvette, so the beam is intended to pass through the main optical faces in transmission geometry. With an ultra-micro body, holder clearance and beam placement matter more than path length alone, because the beam still needs to pass through the filled region at the correct height.
Z Height is not established here for customer specification use, so instrument fit should not be assumed from the family appearance or the 10 mm path alone. If your holder opening, beam position or compartment clearance is fixed, please send the relevant details through Discuss your requirements.
Solvents and cleaning
This cuvette is made from quartz, but the chemical limits of the complete assembly for this exact option are not established here. If your method involves aggressive solvents, prolonged contact, elevated temperature or unusual cleaning steps, please check the exact conditions before ordering.
Do not use hydrofluoric acid on quartz. Avoid hot strong alkalis and abrasive cleaning. For general background on cuvette fabrication approaches, see Compare fabrication methods.
Included with this option
1 cuvette per listed price unit. Closure included.
Availability and ordering
Order this specification directly, or contact us to check current availability and dispatch timing. If temporarily unavailable, additional preparation or production time may be needed. For a required delivery date, contact us before checkout; preparation or production is separate from carrier transit and customs clearance.
Discuss a custom version
We coordinate custom JGS1 quartz production for requirements involving dimensions, optical path length, sample volume, optical windows or Z Height, closures and fabrication-related needs. Send a dimensioned drawing or labelled sketch, your instrument or holder details, sample conditions and target quantity through Discuss your requirements. Modified designs and prototype batches are quoted separately from the listed SKU.
