Description

The C104WS7 is a quartz flow cuvette with 10 mm path length and four-way light windows (four polished optical faces for standard fluorescence excitation-emission geometry), holding 3.5 ml of sample. The cell measures 12.5 × 12.5 × 76 mm externally with an internal chamber of 10 × 10 × 43 mm. Equipped with 5 mmmm OD quartz tubes for easy connection to peristaltic pumps, syringe pumps, or gravity-feed systems. Fabricated using Molded 83 technique with monolithic fused-quartz construction — no adhesive joints, delivering >83% transmittance across the 190-2500 nm range. The quartz body is withstands all common laboratory solvents, concentrated acids, and bases. Avoid HF (hydrofluoric acid).

Why Four-Way Light Windows?

The four-way light (all-clear) configuration provides four optically polished faces, enabling both transmission-mode (0°/180°) and right-angle (90°) fluorescence measurements in a single cell. This versatility makes it ideal for fluorescence spectroscopy, Raman scattering, and multi-angle detection. The polished surfaces also allow visual inspection of the sample during flow operation.

Why a Flow Cell?

Flow cells enable continuous, real-time spectroscopic monitoring without manual sample handling. This cell features external quartz tubes (5 mmmm OD quartz tubes) bonded to the cuvette body, providing reliable connections for standard laboratory tubing. Connect to peristaltic pumps, syringe pumps, or gravity-feed reservoirs for automated, hands-free spectroscopic analysis with consistent optical alignment and repeatable measurements.

Why Molded 83 Fabrication?

The Molded 83 fabrication uses precision UV-cured adhesive to bond high-purity quartz panels. This method delivers >83% transmittance across the UV-Vis-NIR spectrum while keeping costs accessible. The adhesive joints are optically transparent and spectrally neutral, making Molded 83 cells an excellent choice for routine measurements in aqueous media where aggressive solvents are not required.

Usage Tips: Connect standard laboratory tubing (silicone, PTFE, or Tygon) to the quartz tube ports. For integrated-tube cells, slip tubing over the protruding quartz tubes and secure with tubing clamps. Prime the cell slowly to eliminate air bubbles from the optical path. Flow rate should be adjusted to achieve laminar flow — typically 0.5–5 ml/min for standard cells. The 10 mm path length follows Beer-Lambert law: A = εlc, so absorbance scales linearly with path length and concentration. Clean by flushing with appropriate solvent, then deionized water. Avoid sharp bends in tubing near the cell to prevent stress on quartz connections.
