Fill the cuvette from the open top and make sure the liquid level covers the beam during measurement. For consistent day-to-day use, keep the same orientation for blank and sample, avoid bubbles on the optical faces, and handle the cuvette by the non-optical sides where possible.

The 3.5 mL figure is a nominal capacity, not a minimum working volume. If your method uses reduced fills, confirm that the sample level still reaches the illuminated region in your instrument.
