Description

The C022SS is a quartz stoppered cylindrical cuvette with 2mm path length and two-way light optical configuration — two opposing flat faces are polished to optical grade for standard absorbance measurements, integrated into a cylindrical body with an outer diameter of φ22mm. With a 560µl internal volume, this compact cell combines the precision of a rectangular-path cuvette with the convenience of a cylindrical form factor. The glass stopper provides a gas-tight seal to prevent evaporation and contamination during extended measurements. Fabricated using Molded 83 (>83% transmittance) — monolithic fused quartz construction for maximum chemical resistance and zero-adhesive optical clarity.

Spectroscopy & Analytical Applications

UV-Vis Absorbance — quantitative measurements across the 190–2500 nm range
Volatile Sample Analysis — sealed stopper prevents evaporation of organic solvents and volatile analytes
Kinetic Studies — monitor reaction rates over time with the sealed environment maintaining concentration
Protein & DNA Quantification — precise absorbance at 260/280 nm for nucleic acid and protein assays
Pharmaceutical QC — dissolution testing and drug concentration monitoring under sealed conditions
Environmental Analysis — water quality, COD, and trace metal measurements
Petrochemical Testing — hydrocarbon and solvent analysis with sealed containment
Clinical Chemistry — enzymatic assays and diagnostic colorimetric tests

Why a Glass Stopper?

The precision-ground glass stopper creates a gas-tight seal that prevents evaporation, oxidation, and airborne contamination during measurements. Unlike PTFE caps, the glass stopper provides a hermetic closure essential for volatile solvents, oxygen-sensitive reactions, and extended kinetic studies. The stopper is chemically inert and reusable across thousands of measurement cycles.

Why Cylindrical Form Factor?

The cylindrical body with flat optical windows combines compact footprint with excellent sample holder ergonomics. The round body is easy to grip and rotate, and the integrated stopper neck provides a secure seal point. This design is particularly suited to compact spectrophotometers and instruments with circular sample holders.

Why Molded 83?

Molded 83 is a monolithic fused quartz construction — the entire cuvette body is formed as a single piece without adhesive joints. This delivers >83% transmittance and absolute chemical resistance to all solvents, acids, and bases. The seamless design eliminates any risk of adhesive degradation, fluorescence background, or sample leakage, making it the gold standard for demanding analytical work.

Usage Tips

  • Rinse with a compatible solvent before first use to remove any residual particles.
  • Apply a thin film of silicone grease to the stopper joint for an optimal seal when working with volatile solvents.
  • Do not use abrasive materials on the polished optical faces — wipe gently with lens tissue.
  • For baseline correction, fill with your reference solvent and run a blank before sample measurements.
  • Store with the stopper in place to keep optical surfaces clean and protected.
