12-Well Quartz Sample Plate: Organising Multiple Specimens (MQQFL015)
Custom design guide · MQQFL015
MQQFL015 places twelve circular recesses in two rows of six on a 75 × 25 × 6 mm quartz plate. Each recess is 6 mm in diameter and 5 mm deep. The separate positions help organise solid or powder samples for a proposed reflectance or fluorescence setup.
The situations and proposed changes below are planning examples, not completed customer projects.

Use a position record to keep specimens identifiable
For a planned comparison of several solid or powder preparations, separate recesses give each specimen its own place on one plate. The useful feature is the organised layout, rather than automatic measurement: the stage or operator still has to bring each selected position into the observation region.
For example, a user could create a 1–12 position record tied to a marked orientation of the holder. That would be a proposed labelling procedure, not a claim that these numbers are engraved on the supplied plate. Keep the loading record consistent when the plate is removed and replaced.

Match the array to the stage coordinates
Twelve recesses and a rectangular plate do not define a standard microplate interface. The current evidence does not establish well pitch or centre coordinates. A stage drawing should identify the reference edge, travel and centres of the positions to be measured.
For a proposed stage-fit trial, locate the plate from its reference edge and bring the first, last and edge recesses to the observation point. Note any unreachable position or holder obstruction. Those findings identify whether the change belongs in the well coordinates, the plate outline or the holder.

Keep the loading procedure consistent
For powders, use a defined loading and levelling procedure so that changing positions does not also change the intended sample surface. Record which recess contains each preparation and how it is cleared before reuse. The 5 mm depth is a geometric dimension, not a specified powder mass or working liquid capacity; repeatability and cross-talk need evaluation with the actual method.
Specify a new array from a coordinate table
If a stage needs another pitch, send the required well centres from a named datum. State which of the plate outline, well count, diameter and depth you want to retain.
Include margins, identification needs and holder contacts. We can then review the proposed layout without assuming that shifting the wells leaves the usable edge space unchanged.

Checks to agree before ordering
- Positions: Agree centres, margins and the reference edge on the project drawing.
- Loading: Use a sample-position record and a consistent surface-preparation method.
- Stage: Check reachable positions and beam access with the actual holder.
Sample and cleaning conditions
Check sample and cleaning liquids against the complete cell, including its bonded seams and any wetted cap or connection. Supply chemical identity, concentration, temperature and contact time. Avoid hydrofluoric acid; strong alkalis, heat and prolonged soaking need specific review. Adhesive-bonded quartz does not provide blanket approval or rejection of organic solvents.
