Quartz Sample Boat with an End Loop: Planning Insertion and Retrieval
Custom Design Guides · MQQBO009
A sample boat needs a route back out of its support or tube, not just enough room to enter. MQQBO009 is a quartz boat with an end loop. Its reference marks a 100 × 10 × 5 mm body and a separate 110 mm length including the end feature.
The loop provides a feature to discuss with the intended retrieval tool. It is not evidence of a lifting rating or permission to use any hook, load or temperature.

The configuration discussed here
What changes from the simpler form?
An end loop adds a retrieval feature to a shallow sample boat. The sample-holding body and retrieval approach become separate parts of the fit review; the loop is not evidence of a particular load or operating temperature.
Keep the loop in the insertion drawing
The loop extends beyond the sample-holding body. A drawing based only on the 100 mm body can therefore underestimate the space occupied by the complete part. Include the end feature when locating stops or checking whether the boat can pass an opening.
The usable sample area is a different boundary again. Show where the sample should sit and which region must remain available for the retrieval tool. Neither nominal length nor a photograph alone defines that area.
Show the tool approaching the loop
For example, a boat may be placed inside a horizontal tube and removed with a dedicated tool. Provide the tool-tip envelope, its approach direction and the available space beyond the tube end. That information helps review whether the loop remains accessible.
The tube bore and any internal ledge or support also belong in the fit sketch. A simple width comparison can miss restrictions on rotation, insertion angle or tool access. The actual assembly determines which clearances need to be checked.
Retain the sample area, review the retrieval feature
A custom brief might keep the existing sample-body envelope while requesting a different end feature for a known retrieval tool. Mark the fixed sample area and provide the mating tool or a drawing. The feature geometry and handling conditions can then be discussed together.
Alternatively, changing the body length may affect both the sample layout and the position of the loop relative to the opening. State the required final position rather than asking only for a longer boat.
Distinguish fit from operating qualification
A proposed trial fit can assess insertion, location and retrieval using the actual tube and tool. Define the observation and relevant dimensional limits in advance. This does not establish the boat's performance under an unspecified thermal process.
Provide the contents, process conditions and required evidence separately. MQ needs those details to discuss suitability and any requested documentation for the order.

Is the 100 mm length the total part length?
The reference distinguishes the 100 mm body from a 110 mm length including the end feature. Use the complete part envelope for insertion clearance and confirm the endpoints on the ordered drawing.
Send a drawing or the mating-part details
Include the tube and retrieval tool in the enquiry sketch. MQ can then review the boat as part of an insertion-and-removal operation.
- Required sample area and body envelope
- Complete length including the end feature
- Tube bore, internal restrictions and stop positions
- Retrieval-tool shape and approach
- Process conditions, quantity and proposed fit checks
Modified designs are reviewed for the project. The drawing, supplied parts, quantity, inspection scope, price and preparation or production time are agreed in the quotation.
Details to settle for the ordered configuration
The loop's allowable loading, exact mating geometry, process limits and tube compatibility require confirmation.
