Three-Opening Quartz Screw-Top Cell: Allocating Access above the Sample
Custom Design Guides · MQQSC048
MQQSC048 is the nominal 10 mm path quartz-cell reference with three threaded openings. Its angled outer openings and central opening create a different access envelope from a single-neck cell.
The design question is how those interfaces will be used together. Three openings do not establish three isolated sample channels or a supplied set of probes.

In this guide: Configuration · Design comparison · Give each opening a task · Check the closures as moving parts · Keep the tools out of the optical region · Specify the complete interfaces · Enquiry
The configuration discussed here
What changes from the simpler form?
Three threaded necks replace a single opening with multiple access interfaces. Each added neck needs an accessory role, entry angle and removal space; the sample body is not automatically divided into three channels.
Give each opening a task
Number the openings and describe the proposed purpose of each. If a tool or probe passes through one, show its entry angle and the region it needs to reach.
Keep a proposed accessory arrangement separate from the supplied configuration. A threaded neck in a product view is not evidence that a specific cap, seal or probe adapter is included.
Check the closures as moving parts
A cap needs room to approach, turn and be removed. With angled necks close together, that space may differ from the clearance visible when all parts are at rest.
Include neighbouring accessories and the apparatus cover. State whether components are installed one at a time or need access while the others remain in place.
Keep the tools out of the optical region
Mark the required clear window and sample region alongside any inserted items. Nominal path length alone does not establish that the proposed tool arrangement leaves the measurement unobstructed.
For example, an extra access neck could be discussed for a method that needs separate loading and observation tasks. The tool angles, active sample region and holder contacts must then be reviewed together.
Specify the complete interfaces
Give thread and seating details, contact materials and any required closure performance. A screw-neck form is not itself a leak or pressure qualification.
MQ can review the labelled openings with the body and requested checks. The agreed drawing and supplied-parts list should make the difference between bare necks and a complete accessory assembly clear.

Are the three openings three separate inlets?
They are three threaded access features. Their functions and any internal fluid arrangement must be specified for the proposed setup.
Send a drawing or the mating-part details
Send all three proposed accessories in one section or layout. MQ can then review access and clearance around the sample body.
- Numbered openings and the role of each
- Threads, seats, caps and accessory drawings
- Insertion angles and removal envelopes
- Clear optical region and holder contacts
- Sample conditions and supplied-parts acceptance
Modified designs are reviewed for the project. The drawing, supplied parts, quantity, inspection scope, price and preparation or production time are agreed in the quotation.
Details to settle for the ordered configuration
Thread standards, accessory inclusion, internal routing and closure or optical performance require confirmation.
