Quartz 50mm Capped Fluorescence Cuvette, 125ml, Sintered 83, Five-Way Light, Quartz Cover, 1pc/ea, C505CR3
Description
The C505CR3 is a premium quartz fluorescence cuvette with 50 mm path length and five-way light optical configuration — all four vertical faces plus the bottom window are polished to optical grade, enabling excitation and emission collection from virtually any angle. With a standard 125 ml internal volume (50 × 50 × 53 mm chamber), the cell is compatible with most commercial fluorimeters and UV-Vis spectrophotometers. Fabricated using Sintered 83 (>83% transmittance) — assembled by sintering quartz panels at approximately 600 °C, producing fused joints with no adhesive. Includes a quartz cover lid providing UV-transparent closure for top-illumination experiments.

Fluorescence Applications
Why Five-Way Light?
The five-way configuration polishes all four vertical faces plus the bottom to optical grade, providing maximum geometric flexibility for excitation and emission collection. This enables front-face fluorescence on opaque or highly concentrated samples, polarization anisotropy measurements requiring precise alignment, and bottom-read configurations used in plate-reader-adapted instruments. If your experiment only requires standard 90° fluorescence geometry, a four-way cuvette is sufficient; choose five-way when you need bottom optical access or plan to rotate the cuvette for multi-angle studies.
Quartz Cover Lid
The quartz cover lid provides UV-transparent closure, enabling top-illumination or top-detection configurations without signal attenuation. Unlike PTFE caps, the quartz cover transmits the full 190–2500 nm range, making it suitable for experiments where excitation or emission passes through the top of the cuvette. The cover also reduces dust contamination and solvent evaporation during measurements.
Why Sintered 83 Construction?
Sintered 83 cuvettes are assembled by fusing quartz panels at approximately 600 °C, producing joints that are integral to the quartz body with no adhesive. This thermal fusion process yields transmittance >83% and eliminates adhesive-related degradation pathways. The fused joints are compatible with strong acids, bases, and most organic solvents (excluding HF and aggressive organics such as toluene and acetone). For fluorescence work, the absence of adhesive also removes a potential source of background fluorescence that can contaminate emission spectra.
