Annular Quartz Trough: Holding a Sample Around an Open Centre (MQQCU020)
Custom design guide · MQQCU020
An annular sample channel surrounds an open centre, with a transparent ring-shaped bottom. Selection depends on where the sample is observed and which ring surfaces the holder supports.
The situations and proposed changes below are planning examples, not completed customer projects.

Use the open centre as a design requirement
MQQCU020 holds a sample in a ring-shaped trough rather than in a solid-bottom dish. Its outside diameter is 100 mm and its height is 15 mm. The centre is open through the part, while the sample channel has a transparent annular bottom.
This geometry is a starting point for a reflectance arrangement that needs sample space around a central opening. Show the observed annular area, the central clearance needed and the surfaces available for support. The overall circular outline alone is not enough to specify the fit.
The listed configuration
Configuration to confirm: Confirm the boundaries represented by the 75 mm and 80 mm internal annotations before specifying centre clearance or annular working space. The listed 35 mL remains a nominal capacity.

How the structure differs from a conventional cell
Changing a bulk chamber into an annular trough changes both the sample footprint and the support task. A fixture may need access through the open centre, while the holder must support the ring without obstructing the observed area. Working liquid level or prepared specimen surface also needs a reference to the optical setup.

Define the internal boundaries before specifying clearance
If the trough must fit around a central fixture, provide the fixture outline and clearance requirement. Mark each inner and outer wall boundary on a section or plan view. We can review the inner wall, annular bottom and outside envelope together.
The current drawing annotations include 75 mm and 80 mm internal diameters, but their boundary definitions still need confirmation before either is used as a mating dimension. For a different sample area, specify the required annular footprint, depth and surface position instead of choosing one of those numbers by assumption.

Three checks for the proposed setup
- Boundary definition. Identify the diameter and tolerance at every mating wall surface.
- Ring support. Show the supporting surfaces and keep loads off unsupported quartz walls.
- Observed area. Locate the sample region and define its liquid level or prepared surface.
Check support and central clearance while the trough is empty
Plan placement and removal on the intended holder before loading a sample. Then assess distribution and the observed surface using the defined preparation method. Handle supported regions and the underside, not a thin wall as a lifting point. Cleaning and compatibility must suit the adhesive-bonded construction and residue.
Which drawing should I send for a central-fixture fit?
Send a plan and section identifying the fixture outline, required clearance, ring support and observed region. Ask for confirmation of each internal wall boundary before using a diameter for fit. Include any concentricity or working-volume requirement explicitly.
Engineering dimension reference
The reference records known external dimensions and configuration notes. Internal geometry, tolerances and operating limits still require a project-specific specification.
