Choose this option
The 40 mm path provides an alternative between the 30 mm and 50 mm versions. Select it for a method that specifically calls for this path rather than choosing by external appearance alone. Check the intended beam direction and detection access as well as the measurement path.
What makes this option different
- 40 mm optical path: this is the specified measurement distance for this option. It does not describe the complete external body length.
- Four optical faces: the side faces provide optical access around the sample region, including an adjacent-face detection arrangement when your fluorescence method and instrument support it. Four optical faces do not specify four different path lengths.
- Open top with a separate flat lid: remove the lid for pipetting and replace it between handling steps to help keep dust away. The lid is a cover rather than a threaded or pressure-tight closure.
- Flat base: upright seating is useful when checking the position of the cell in a compatible holder. Check beam clearance and the holder’s support surfaces together.
- Q-marked configuration: use the exact product image and SKU when reordering. The engraving is an identifier, rather than a numerical statement of optical performance.
Using this cell
Handle the cell by its rim and edges, keeping fingerprints away from the optical faces. Load the sample so that it covers the illuminated region without bubbles; a working fill depends on the actual beam position and method. Use the same seating and orientation for the blank and sample, and replace the flat lid during pauses in handling.
First-use check
- Inspect all optical faces, the rim and the lid for damage or residue.
- Check seating and beam access with the cell positioned as it will be used.
- Fill with a suitable blank, remove bubbles from the illuminated region and establish a stable reference before measuring the sample.
Fit and optical alignment
Check the rectangular footprint, upright seating and access to adjacent optical faces against your holder. Leave space to remove the lid and introduce a pipette without contacting an optical wall. A shared nominal path with another cell does not establish that the external holder dimensions are interchangeable.

Solvents and cleaning
Select sample and cleaning conditions for the complete cell and lid assembly. Do not treat the quartz material alone as evidence that every solvent, temperature or cleaning procedure is suitable.
Do not use hydrofluoric acid on quartz. Avoid hot strong alkalis, abrasive cleaning and sudden temperature changes. Wipe exterior optical faces gently with non-abrasive optical tissue; rinse the sample region with an appropriate cleaning method and remove residue before taking the next blank.
