Description

The C1001WS is a quartz circular flow cuvette with 100 mm path length and two-way light windows (two polished optical faces for standard UV-Vis absorbance geometry), holding 20 ml of sample. The cell measures 19 × 10 mm externally with an internal chamber of 10 × 28 mm. The cylindrical design accommodates circular flow patterns and connects via integrated quartz tube ports. Fabricated using Sintered 83 technique with high-temperature sintered quartz construction, delivering >83% transmittance across the 190-2500 nm range. The quartz body is compatible with strong acids, bases, and most organic solvents (excluding HF and aggressive organics such as toluene and acetone).

Why Two-Way Light Windows?

The two-way configuration provides two optically polished opposing faces for standard transmission-mode spectroscopy (UV-Vis, NIR). The remaining two walls are frosted (ground) to suppress internal reflections and stray light, improving baseline stability and measurement reproducibility. This is the most common geometry for absorbance-based flow analysis — compatible with virtually every single-beam and double-beam spectrophotometer on the market.

Why a Flow Cell?

Flow cells enable continuous, real-time spectroscopic monitoring without manual sample handling. Circular (cylindrical) flow cells provide a symmetrical optical cross-section for CD spectroscopy, optical rotation measurements, and applications where beam geometry benefits from a round window. The large path length (100 mm) combined with flow capability makes this cell ideal for weak absorbers or trace analysis in continuous monitoring setups.

Why Sintered 83 Fabrication?

The Sintered 83 fabrication uses precision UV-cured adhesive to bond high-purity quartz panels. This method delivers >83% transmittance across the UV-Vis-NIR spectrum while keeping costs accessible. The adhesive joints are optically transparent and spectrally neutral, making Sintered 83 cells an excellent choice for routine measurements in aqueous media where aggressive solvents are not required.

Usage Tips: Orient the cell with the polished optical faces toward the light source and detector. Fill to at least 5 mm above the beam height to avoid meniscus effects. The 100 mm path length follows Beer-Lambert law (A = εlc) — for concentrated samples, consider a shorter path. Clean with spectroscopic-grade solvent and rinse with deionized water. Avoid scratching the optical faces; handle by the frosted walls or edges. Compatible with standard spectrophotometer cuvette holders (12.5 mm external width models).
