Description
The C104CS55 is a quartz micro fluorescence cuvette offering a 10 mm path length, four optically polished faces, and a compact 1.4 ml working volume at the most accessible price point in the fluorescence micro-cuvette range. The 4 mm interior width saves 60% of sample versus a full-size 3.5 ml cell while the complete 10 mm path length satisfies Beer–Lambert law requirements for quantitative work. All four polished faces support 90° fluorescence geometry, making the cell compatible with both fluorimeters and UV-Vis spectrophotometers (190–2500 nm). Standard 80 precision-glued construction provides >80% transmittance — more than sufficient for routine fluorescence screening, teaching lab exercises, and high-volume aqueous assays where cost per cell is a deciding factor. Closed with a PTFE cap.

Applications
When Standard 80 Makes Sense
Not every fluorescence experiment needs the premium chemistry of sintered or molded construction. For aqueous-only workflows — buffer-based protein assays, cell lysate measurements, DNA intercalation studies — the precision-glued Standard 80 bond is fully adequate and substantially less expensive. The >80% transmittance across 190–2500 nm delivers clean fluorescence baselines for biological samples, and the four polished optical faces provide exactly the same 90° measurement geometry as higher-tier cells. Reserve Sintered 83 or Molded 83 for work involving organic solvents, concentrated acids, or applications demanding the tightest cell-to-cell tolerances. Important: the adhesive joints are designed for aqueous samples only (water, buffers, dilute salt solutions).
Why Micro Volume?
Internal quartz masking walls narrow the measurement chamber to 4 mm while maintaining the full 10 mm optical path (Beer–Lambert law: A = εlc). This saves 60% of sample compared to a standard 3.5 ml cuvette, making it practical for precious biological samples and expensive fluorescent reagents. The micro volume design keeps the sample at full column height — compatible with all spectrophotometer beam heights (8.5 mm, 15 mm, or 20 mm) without verification.
